Dopo una laurea in Conservazione dei Beni Culturali, ho scelto di toccare con mano materiali diversi in un percorso di restauro.
Così sono partita dalla carta, dai libri, dalle stampe, dal materiale pergamenaceo, per poi avvicinarmi alla fotografia, al fascino dell'analogico, della sua storia e delle sue tecniche, per giungere ad esplorare un mondo altrettanto affascinante, fatto di luci, suoni e immagini in movimento, quello delle pellicole cinematografiche e degli audiovisivi. Presso laboratori, in botteghe e archivi. Nonostante la mia continua formazione, mi definisco un'autodidatta che cerca, esplora, che si sporca le mani.
Oggi attraverso il mio lavoro non solo offro un servizio in questo settore così ampio con dedizione e meticolosità, ma voglio anche poter mostrare quella parte di me poco conosciuta; percorrere strade nuove attraverso la legatoria e tutte le sue declinazioni, attraverso opere personali e in collaborazione con altri autori.
Dare corpo a piccoli progetti all'interno di un progetto più grande che abbracci tutto.
Insomma contaminare e lasciarsi contaminare.
Ecco, è come aprire una finestra, far entrare un po' di luce sugli obiettivi che ci prefissiamo, sulle sfide da affrontare, sui sogni.
Sì, sui sogni. Anche e soprattutto in tempi in cui l'idea di ogni futuro possibile sembra vacillare.
My name is Cecilia Rossi, founder of the brand Cartelier.
After graduating in Conservation of Cultural Heritage, I decided to touch by hand different materials thanks to an education in restauration.
I started from paper, books, printings, parchment materials before approaching photography and the charm of analogue, its history, and techniques.
Then, I turned my exploration to the fascinating world of lights, sounds and pictures in motion, hence the world of cine films and audio-visuals; in laboratories and archives.
Despite my never-ending professional training, I still consider myself as a self-educated artist in a continuous search, exploring and getting her hand on the work. Nowadays, through my work, I devotionally and carefully serve such a wide field, and moreover, I wish to express my less-known self by taking new paths in the bookbindery with personal works-of-art and collaborations with other professionals.
The idea is to give birth to little projects within a wider frame that would keep them all together.
In other words, the aim is to contaminate and get contaminated.
Hence, it is like opening a window, allow some light to get in and enlighten our goals, our challenges, our dreams.
Exactly, enlighten our dreams. Also and mainly in those times when even only the idea of the future seems to fail.
